Do What You Love

In one of the seminars I attended, we were told to look at what we love to do, to look at our strengths, and focus on that.

We deserve to live life doing the things we love and loving the things we do!

Well, I love to write and I also love to read.

I LOVE TO READ

Growing up, I would just be in my room reading whatever book was available. There were no iPads then, so books were my best friends!

We have a mini library at home, super-mini but it was all powerful books.

It was all Mom’s books.  She compiled, bought and collected books about successful achievement, books of Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie and Norman Vincent Peale among others.

Yes, I have also grown to love libraries and checking books out too!

In high school, I’d be sleeping late just to finish reading pocketbooks!

In college, I’d only be at the dormitory on weekends, finishing books of Sydney Sheldon and Danielle Steele.

Then, after I graduated from college, my interest changed from fiction to non-fiction. I fell in love with self-help books!

I’d be eating my lunch quickly just to be able to spend some more time in the bookstore near my workplace and enjoy more time with powerful authors like Leo Buscaglia; Wayne Dyer; Andrew Matthews, our very own Bo Sanchez, among others.

Up until now, I still try to read as much as I could; and am passing the habit to my kids.

There is just so much power in the written word.

Reading allows us to broaden our horizon; look beyond our own “boxes”; get to know ourselves more and learn about our power within.

These authors influenced, inspired, and changed my life and they continue to do so.

Maybe, there were the reasons why I also love to write.

But there is one very important book that I, sometimes, tend to neglect.

THE BIBLE.

My mom said one time that her father (my grandfather) read the bible daily, and when he was finally able to finish it, he died!

OK, kinda scary, right? maybe that was the reason I veered away from reading it and just depend on Sunday readings. Lol. I think I opted to read the picture Bible book from cover to cover, it felt safer.

Kidding aside, I feel I should start reading it again…

Anyway, enough about me, what about you? What do you love to do? What are your strengths? What makes happy?

Don’t you think it’s about time to focus on things you love to do to make you love life more?
