My husband, Dennis, was invited for an interview at this job opening. After the interview via Zoom, I could sense his excitement as he awaits the result. The following day, he didn’t go to work and watched movies all day. It was apparent that his excitement turned to anxiety!
That night I told him he was allowing “attachment to results” to take over his life. “If it’s meant to be, then it’s meant to be!” I insisted.
Detach from the results? Yes, it is easier said than done. But when you separate yourself from the outcome, faith takes over. Beat that?
The years of believing, “I live my life knowing my prayers are already answered” has allowed me to trust God — in whatever circumstances!
How I do it?
I pray. I tell God this my situation — where I am right now. And this is where I want to be. Now, if where I want to be will not happen, then this is my plan B. I only have two options, Lord. All the rest, please deliver and tell me what to do.
I believe I can only do so much. And if in my heart, I know I am coming from integrity, commitment, and love for what I do. Then, I am good. All the rest, I allow Him to lead.
The “waiting-for-the-results” game is the hardest. Because like time-out, we have to be still. And it’s not easy to be still. Why? Because we always want to be in control.
Funny, but this pandemic is teaching us a lot about what we can and cannot control.
While we push for the things we want, sometimes, the best thing we can only do is to say, take over God. I’ve done my part. Now it’s Your turn.

Three days to date, Dennis hasn’t heard from the company yet. But it looks like he doesn’t mind. Maybe, because I don’t too.
