Grace-Filled Reflections for a Blessed and Abundant Life

PROSPECTING-8

All For A Purpose

I applied for a gifted teacher position in an elementary setting some years ago. I got hired and found myself in a classroom combination of resource and self-contained classes – in a non-gifted program! OMG!

At that time, I came from years of sped facilitation work. I had no real-life experience teaching elementary students with special needs with unbelievable behavioral issues in a more severe spectrum! But I held on to my faith; I thought I could wing it!

But didn’t!

Oh yes, I prayed! It made me pray a lot – for the day to be over already and that no administrators would visit the class!

Long story short, I got hired in December and resigned in May.

And NOW, like déjà vu, I’m back to the same circumstances, and weirdly, I LOVE IT!

What happened?

God allowed me to prepare.

Nothing will ever beat a prepared mind, body, and soul. No matter how much faith you put into anything, nothing will happen if you don’t put in the effort and the work.

After summer, I got hired in another city and taught inclusion classes (my comfort zone). It was God’s way of putting me in time-out because after another five months – God allowed me to work with the New Mexico Public Education Department and head a professional development program for elementary schools through the Results-Driven Accountability grant.

I wouldn’t have understood God’s plan for me until I saw how God closed the gaps in my life. The support I didn’t have before is what I do now.

Yes, there’s more to learn and more to do. But this time, I’m happier.

No events in our lives are ever a waste. There’s always God-purpose.

And the process to uncover it is exciting.
