How Do We Know God’s Plans In Our Lives?

How Do We Know God's Plans In Our Lives?

Sometimes our plans are not God’s plans. But how do we know God’s plans in our lives?

While I was dreaming of the opportunity to teach in the US, I planned on staying only for the duration of the H-1B visa. The H-1B visa is valid for six years, but because it is dual-intent, the visa holder can stay for good if the US school district sponsors permanent residency.

Although I prayed for “more,” I couldn’t see beyond the “box” and “comfort zone” I was at that time. So, I said, I think it will work, God, I’ll stay for five years in the US, and then I’ll go home.

Yes, God. I’m OK with five years. If the school district doesn’t sponsor a green card, I’m OK with that too!

That was my plan before coming to the US.

And then, I experienced the land of milk and honey, and after a year of preparation and settling everything, I brought my family here.

I didn’t realize that when I prayed for “more,” God took it seriously. He gave me more – MORE than I had asked for, and I am grateful.

What about you? Do you limit God’s plans in your lives by trusting Him less whenever there are curveballs, challenges, or hiccups? Or do you settle for less simply because “OK” is enough for you?

I told someone today that God’s redirection looks like a traffic light. Sometimes you see a green light, and everything’s smooth. But other times, you see almost all the red signs or yellow signs along the way.

I said, in whatever road we fall into, we don’t question God. Instead, we trust that He’s got us! We embrace our faith all the more as we continue to grow and move forward wherever we maybe.

Why? Because there’s no use to worry and be anxious, especially about the things that are out of our control.

“God, lead the way!” That is my mantra.

Oh yes, I beg God. I pray and beg. Let go and beg. Trust and beg. I take a deep breath, and then I accept and beg. Lol.

Until I fully surrender to His will. And then, I smile big because He gives MORE than I begged for, all the time!

So, how do we know God’s plans in our lives? For me, if it’s all green, like the go signal of the traffic light! Even if there are curveballs, challenges, or hiccups still the green light is up ahead. Even if there are significant challenges, weirdly, the green light follows me!

And I just know. God’s got me.

  1. I am so inspired with your story ma’am Gemma. Before I saw teachusa in the social media, I prayed for someone to help me realize my dream to work in the land of milk and honey and hopefully lift my family from the painful experiences of discrimination due to poverty. I believe teach-usa is God’s answer to my prayers. It may be an uphill climb to reach there but nothing is impossible with His ways. I am holding on firmly to that belief.
