What Matters Most

It was the best tasting pork Menudo I’ve ever had! Curious, I asked a friend how she did it. She said, I simply used all the available items in our refrigerator!

Wow! With the same items in our refrigerator, I’d look at the carrots, potato, pork, milk, raisins, and fry eggs in the end!

My husband, Dennis, washes our clothes. I think he finds joy in segregating the clothes, putting the detergent and softener, and taking the clothes out to be dried. At least, I think so. Because, for years, he doesn’t seem to complain.

Now, if he gives me that workload, I don’t think I’d feel delighted.

But let me open my computer, log in to my blogging account, find words in my mind, put together a photo, publish it for the world to see, and my heart shouts with gladness!

I enjoy going through this writing process time and time again – more than the finished work.

I think it’s the same joy that the cooks go through in their cooking journey, painters go through in painting or dishwashers while washing the dishes. When we see work, not as a routine and obligation, but a joyful adventure, it makes the difference. Suddenly, creative art comes to life!

If we become less attached to the final product, and “just do it!” we become more imaginative. We can even risk deeper and try new things!

If we become less attached to the outcome, life surprises us!

And if we become less attached to what other people will say (in the context of creativity), wouldn’t life be happier?

Still, I await the time when I can open our refrigerator and see carrots, potato, pork, milk, raisins, and eggs, and voila, Hardinera! Hihi.

  1. Rediscovered you through your comment in my old post – about a decade ago haha! That was the height of blogging when it was not yet overtaken by vlogging and YouTube. Majority of our contemporaries in blogosphere have abandoned their sites and moved on.

I’m just gald to see someone from that time still at it and prolific at that! Power on, Teacher Blogger! At least I’m not alone. 🙂
